What’s Your Type?

Yes, I know I said I was going to write about my weeks’ adventures, but I’m not there yet.  Instead, I give you An Evening With Santi & Joel:

Par for the course, another ridiculous conversation with my friends Santi and Joel last night over Pimm’s while we kind of watched Agatha Christie’s, “Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?”  Everything I do with those two is a performance, and kind of contrived.  Anyway, we got to talking about our friends and how we each have a “type” — interesting that we do, I guess.  As opposed to partners, lovers, boyfriends/girlfriends, etc., I’d expected my friend set to be more diverse.  As it turns out, not so much.  The people whom I know and like are varied and super different from each other, but my close circle, it seems, is made up of a similar set of folks … all of whom, though similar to each other, are WAY different from me.  Perhaps I’m looking for something?  I don’t know.  I’m amazed, though, at how married and kid-ful and on top of their game most of my close friends are.  Maybe it’s not that I need them to show me something else, but they need me to be the Kramer to their Jerry — the wacky, unattached, laissez-faire, follow your dream type gal in their stable of friends?

Whatever the case, I’m happy I’ve got the friends I do, and am going to do my level best to hold them close, even Santi and Joel who drive me up the wall.  Speaking of which, the three of us are headed out to the gym to do water aerobics with the folks from the senior center now.  Talk about Kramer…
