Dang. Should I? Shouldn’t I? In the middle of packing to move to the other side of the world, it seems like a bad time to start another project … and unpack my sewing machine when I should be knitting a project a day, plus cutting for all those project bags for Stitches of Heritage! … But, it’s Mimi G. Style, and she’s the best and look how cute, to boot. I’m blaming Mimi for tonight’s packing delay! Maybe I’ll just download the pattern and think about it a bit. I hope. I need strength.
Seriously, even if you don’t like this pattern, you should check out her site (click on the photo for the link the pattern, then click around afterwards to see everything else). It’s chock full of awesome patterns — some easy, some not so much, but all with great tutorials to help you through — and she’s such a generous spirit and delightful person. I went to her first sewing weekend in L.A. last year and had a blast, felt inspired, and supported moving from quilting and accessories into full on clothing. I’ve had some disasters (thinking of a Gordon Gartrell Gallery for you to give you the giggles), but they were largely due to my being in a hurry/not trusting the pattern/not using the right needle and/or thread — that last one matters as much in sewing as it does in knitting. For real.
Anyway, enough about my angst. Check out the site, love it, and then get your sewing machine dusted, oiled up and ready. (Oh, that sounds dirty, but you know what I mean.) Also, if you’re so inclined, pray, and if you’re not, send me good vibes so I’ll have the fortitude to pack at least three more boxes before I start in on another project! Happy Tuesday!
