First Impressions

Thinking about how much they do and don’t matter.  I’m thinking that it’s precisely because we think they DO matter so much, that at the end of the day, they don’t matter.  Folks put on a good show at the outset, but it’s not until you peel back the layers that you get to the real stuff — the spirit down next to the bone.

Anyway, this isn’t one of those cryptic high-school Facebook messages where someone slighted me and I’m calling them out passive aggressively.  First impressions are just on my mind right now while I’ve been setting up a new pro-bono team for a project.  How do I ensure we get off on the right foot, and that when the warts start to show, we work through?

Speaking of foot warts…okay, not really, but I’m a sucker for an awkward seque.  I never posted the picture of the finished Chaleur.  I know I said it was too big, but a little prompting from the parents to wash it and, get this — put-it-in-the-dryer–helped it immensely.  I was scared, but it worked.  Here’s a fuzzy photo:

I don't know how to take a happy picture.
